Second refashion under my belt.

Another refashion!   I pulled out my trusty serger and went to town on one of my large eddie bauer shirts.   I took a shirt that does fit to give me an idea of width.  So sides gone.  Next I took the neckline and sketched out a wider line.   Done and done.   I think a good starter for both a refashion era and serger era.

For years I always said sergers were a waste of money and space.

Then a surprising thing happened. I was in the car off to buy a new sewing machine. I was allowing a certain budget. On the way in the car I suddenly decided I would buy a cheaper sewing machine and also a serger.

Don’t know what made me change my mind but oh how useful that serger has been.

For example I like making my own doona covers. With the serger I was able to overlock the edge and have a single thickness frill instead of a folded over one. They are much daintier than a double fabric frill and can savea bit of fabric too. And one quicky doona cover I made by just serging the 2 edges together with a contrast colour thread. Then of course I have used it so much for dressmaking and craft.
