…I’d probably be asked to do more in a day.
Today was a good day back at work: easy yet lame. I doubt having any super powers would help the day get any better but definitely open more job opportunities. I’d probably be on call and not get any more sleep than I would these days.
All I gotta say is I’m happy that I finally got to go to trainer session today. I am ready to kick my booty into shape and prepare for that snow season. Maybe once the snow comes i’ll be so pumped that i could do flips…. ok. maybe not.
So remember yesterday where i said i signed up for that “Art Every Day Month”? Well the journal entry to the right is my art for today. I think I’ll add more to the page but after working out, i didn’t have much time or energy to actually spend time on it.
All in all… I got another day done.
On another note, I’ve been hinting to a certain person about something I did. Not sure if that certain person reads these posts and knows that I’m talking about that person or if they know what will be coming by the end of the week. Tee hee. I wanna so tell that person but I’m working up the surprise. tee hee.

Wow it’s already November! How time flies when you don’t notice.
November 1st means Day of the Dead! Woo hoo! Not only do you get a day to dress up in a cool costume but the next day has more celebrations! I dig the decorations for today’s holiday. I finally got to my DOTD skull today. Quite fun and relaxing to doodle with bright colors on a pure white skull. It’s even better that I finally had energy to do something.
Last week was c
razy. Being sick for practically the whole week but not having the same symptoms as Jeff made it difficult to realize that I was sick. Jeff felt ill on Monday and I think I finally gave in on Wednesday. I’m not sure what type of flu it was but it sucked the energy right out of doing anything except for sleep, eat, and drink. I’m glad that it’s finally gone and definitely happy it was before we go to San Diego in a few weeks.
San Diego will be interesting as I think we’re going to Disneyland with young niece and nephew. I’m unsure if it really has been settled that we’ll be going to Mickey’s house but I know we’ll be going to a concert for Edgar Winter. That’ll be a hoot!! It’ll be good to take some time off.
I’ve also signed up for a few online art things. One is for the whole month of November. Everyday, I will be doing something artsy. It’s called Art Every Day Month by Leah [ Creative Everday]. I stumbled upon it today and thought it would be a great kick-off to my other art thing: { 12.31 } by Dawn DeVries Sokol [ D'Blogala ]. It’s all about documenting the holidays through creating your own journal and something other things that I haven’t heard yet. The project starts on November 6th and goes to the end of December. I’m excited.
So today’s skull design is brought to you by my first day of ADEM. Enjoy.
or at least helpful. I’ve finally had a weekend where I didn’t just wish I could get myself motivated to do projects. I created a motivation list and BAM! I was working to get it the list done.
Over the weekend, the Craft-a-long had it’s debut. The first ever! Washington state had it’s first snow fall of the season and a freakin’ cold snap that has been going since then. That definitely had an effect on who was going to show up for the event.
In the end, it was just mum and I. We had fun no matter what. She worked on some cute Halloween pictures of grandchildren into a layout.
I worked on some snowy pictures from Jeff and I going up to Alpental for snowboarding. The layout took all my time, some veggies, two cups of coffee, and a cookie. Oh that cookie was good. It helped create some cute
chipboard covered in some embossed white powder. Turned out really awesome. I also added some felt and transparency flakes. This layout also popped the cherry on my new Making Memories Slice machine. Quite awesome to use on crops. So small and compact that is was easy to transport around. I loved the fact that I didn’t have to feed the paper into the machine. I also realized that I could position the cut where I needed it.
I could fuse the letters together by watching where the blade was placing itself according to the previous cut.
I was working on another layout after this one, but with my sister’s family stopping by, I started to talk more than work.
So tonight I finalized the layout and here is the fun layout I got to breathe life into tonight.

I had a visitor this evening as I was painting away at background for a new challenge on art journalling. No one else but the Doctor. Oh how he is just fantastic to show up near my new find from the thrift store. A cute little very narrow mug. I realized that I could have it hold some pencils near my work computer. A great fit that allows my “finds” to mix in with the rest of our clutter.
As I was mentioning before the Doctor showed up, i was working on some backgrounds for a challenge that our fearless leader, Suzan, brought for in the Many Manics Creating Art. I’m up for the challenge! She wrote that we can’t use any pre-made images such as clippings, photos, paper in our work. Something that I cling to when working on art journalling. I thought this would be a great time to one, working on some watercoloring, two, work with some watercoloring I found at the thrift store (why waste good stuff?), and 3 work on layering. So I have some examples drying on my easel.
I’m pretty happy about how my layering working on one example.. It was fun to have the watercolors layer over each other and yet gained a zen sense by just making squares over squares over squares. Quite nice.
While I slaved away at my art, my DH and friend was working on flooring in the kitchen. It’s looking fabulous! Definitely getting there. Hopefully by tomorrow night it’ll be all done and, after three days of no traffic (geez!), painting begins. It’s been a week without a proper kitchen. I had to clean a BUNCH of dishes today before they started otherwise I swear we’d have something else living in there.

Do you feel the pink screaming from my journal page? Oh. It should it’s called “Opera Pink” by Daniel Smith. I first tried the watercolors by DS and O. M. G. I dig how they play on watecolor paper. So lovely to mix and dance on the page. The color doesn’t necessarily sit on the page upon first applica, but it’ll move with a bit more water. Fantastic! I can add depth and texture by adding water or more color. It does make great backgrounds for my journal pages. I call this on the left, “True Love Waits…”, just like the Radiohead song. The lady and guy images are from a vintage teen mag. I just love her composure and how she’s drawn on. I might have to attemp drawing her for future use. I also dig the eye hooks from my vintage sewing stuff grabs from various thrift store trips. it took some effort to get teh string on there and some globs of glue goo and now they stay put with the string being taut. Awesome.
I creates this page before the pink page. I took my time at it too. Adding a bit here. Adding another thing the next day. That’s why its called “Just Wait” because I tend to try to get to the finish as quick as possible because I want the finished project. However I took my time. I’m not sure if I’m done with this one or not but I seem good with it for the moment.
I have another page I’m working on but getting ready to work on flooring of the kitchen comes first. So moving and clearing is the words for the day. Might just work on that theme for a page sooon. BRB.
